Becker and Greene sought to offer a low-cost hotel that could compete with larger hotel brands like Holiday Inn during the 1960s. The partners specialized in low-cost housing and were able to develop a hotel concept that could compete with the quality and price of the existing hotels in America at the time. Motel 6 needed two years of planning to be able to decrease expenses where feasible. The time and effort these entrepreneurs put into Motel 6 paid off. This no-frills motel grew into one of the largest hotel accommodations in America. The earliest Motel 6 hotels opened in 1962 had no onsite restaurant, which was unique to the Motel 6 brand. Even now, most Motel 6 locations do not feature on-site eating, although there are plenty of eateries nearby.

I already provided feedback and would want to update certain details. After reviewing my account, I discovered that I had not been charged the extra $250 that I had been assured I would be. I just went through my account today. I already checked it, and the costs were $260 (which was charged to my card when I arrived for two nights) and an extra $100 after we departed. Both were in the works. I reasoned as follows: According to the website, the nightly rate is $98 plus an extra 15%. I wasn't sure whether they'd reimburse the second night. If they did, I estimated I was charged $98 for one night plus tax, which totalled $114.80 plus the $250 I was promised, for a total of $364.80. So I waited to see what the ultimate price would be. I checked today and it only showed $114.80. I'd like to say that the room was extremely pleasant. This was my first evaluation for the room itself. It was a single member of staff who, in my perspective, was unprofessional. Thank you very much. Display more Display less

Motel 6 Alexandria La

I've been in isolated third-world hotels before, but never in a place this terrible. I'm surprised Motel 6 would let this facility operate under its name. Words cannot depict the heinousness. The outside is being renovated, but they should have begun with the worn-out rooms. The plumbing is completely broken, the carpet is worn to the backing, the furniture is coming apart, there are cigarette burns on everything, hotes in the sheets, and the place is crawling with roaches. The internet was never functional. The outside is crumbling apart, and the parking lot is quite unsafe. Because it's a Motel 6, I wasn't expecting much. I understand they stand for basic budget lodging with no frills, but what I have learned to expect is a respectable level of cleanliness that is safe. If this property is adequately renovated, it may one day be available as a low-cost hotel. If you decide to remain here, you cannot claim that you were not told of its state. I could go on about the inept front desk employee and the other troubles I faced as a result of her, but I don't believe it matters at this point.

This is my second visit to this hotel. Food is sometimes acceptable. The restaurant might be crowded, and beverages are not self-service on all-inclusive plans. My room was brand new and stunning. The other room was worn yet tidy. Downsides.... little supervision of towels on sunbeds... some were left overnight, but I also watched a 6 a.m. towel run that was not utilized until late afternoon... I understand that a hotel cannot supervise selfish individuals. The most disappointing thing was that we arrived at 11 p.m.... all inclusive was finished... we were told on arrival that we would get it on the last day, but when we checked out, all inclusive care was taken away from us and we were given a lunch voucher that can only be used in the restaurant, and you only get one small drink with lunch. Our pick-up time was 6 p.m., and we were fortunate to be able to go purchase other beverages, such as soft drinks and water, but other families may suffer on the last day. I feel we were cheated out of one all-inclusive day.
