Kenmore Power Miser 6

Kenmore > Checkins > Repair > All Brands Kenmore water heaters are notoriously difficult to service. However, the most prevalent problem with Kenmore water heaters is a simple repair. The air intake filter in Kenmore units is often blocked with dust or cobwebs. The pilot will be forced to land due to a congested intake.

That should be searspartsdirect.com. I needed the 9003379 model, so please see the link below. Which is not seen. Everything was nice and heated after approximately 15 minutes of installation. While you have everything apart, get a tiny vacuum cleaner and vacuum the base and filter. Mine was bad and most likely contributed to the situation. If that filter becomes blocked, the pilot will likewise fail to light. Sorry, the price including delivery is roughly 85-90 dollars. The thermocouple is there, however it is obscured by the burner. I had to speak with someone to obtain the appropriate one. Don't be fooled, the Miser 4, 6, and 9 all have separate burner types that are not interchangeable.

Unsatisfied in certain ways

My water heater really stinks. I've had this water heater since I purchased this property and haven't replaced it yet, but I want to do so soon. What I appreciate most about it is that the water may become rather hot at first. It becomes so hot that it literally burns. And since we have to pay for water from the City of Tallahassee, it doesn't actually raise my power bill much that much. The water then goes ice cold all at once, straight after one shower. And I come from a large family. We have to wait till the water cools off before one of us can take a shower. And each time it takes approximately an hour, and the water doesn't last long. The initial rain lasts the longest. We sometimes have to take 3 minute showers, and I like lengthy showers. That is my greatest pet peeve. To be honest, I would not suggest this brand to anybody, nor will I purchase it again after my water heater is replaced.

Kenmore water heaters that are Energy Star certified are high-efficiency equipment since the water is heated more efficiently and there is less heat loss. These variants feature thicker foam and a better insulation value, as well as heat traps fitted. Four types are Energy Star certified and include capacities of 40 and 50 gallons. The equipment is great. A little difficult to install, but overall excellent. Exact replacement for my Sears-Kenmore 153.339211HA 40-Gal natural gas hot water heater with a White-Rodgers component (Made in Mexico, which is superior to Chinese knockoffs). The old thermocouple was shutting down if the air temperature went below 65 degrees F, and this cured the issue completely. Unfortunately, it took two orders to receive the correct component. For the first time, I received an oven knob for a Frigidaire range! Because the barcode sticker for this product was pasted on top of the barcode sticker for the oven knob, Amazon sent me the incorrect item. However, this is not a problem with the component, but rather with the seller and/or Amazon.

It operated perfectly for almost a year. It was released two weeks ago, on the 12th. It opened the lid just enough to reheat the water before closing it again. When I phoned a different plumbing firm, they indicated the old thermocouple was loose and that I should replace it just to be cautious. So no difficulties for the first four years, then in the latter two years I changed the

Miser 6 was put in my home in 2007. The pilot light went out overnight. It features a pilot light starter with a "push down" button and a green igniter button. I tried starting it about 5 times following the guidelines [turn to pilot light setting, let sit at off position,— then move to pilot setting, press down about 5 times and hit the green igniter button and hold down for approximately 1 minute] and it still won't start. Is there anybody who knows what's going on? Is it possible that a thermocouple has failed? Is it possible that it's anything else? Is it preferable to just buy a new heater given the high cost of components and the expense of hiring a repair person?

Kenmore water heaters come in two varieties, both of which are seen here. The first picture depicts a Kenmore unit with three legs. In order to have appropriate airflow, this sort of device must be put atop bricks. The bricks also aid in providing access to the filter for annual cleaning. If the water heater was not put on bricks, the tank must be drained and sat on bricks. Once you've gained access to the bottom, clean the intake using a shop vac. The Kenmore illustrated below is a more typical variety that does not need installation on bricks. The filter readily removes and may be cleaned with a shop vac or just blown out manually.

I did some research and discovered how to do this assignment. It simply takes approximately 30 minutes and just three standard tools. The only caveat is that you must be cautious and willing to turn off the gas and detach a gas line (if you are unsure, consult a plumber!). I switched off the gas to the water heater, unhooked three lines, unscrewed two screws, and removed the burner assembly while watching a YouTube video. I vacuumed the interior of the water heater to ensure it was clear of ash and soot. This will assist to extend its life. After that, I gently removed the old thermocouple and replaced it with the new one. I reassembled everything, reapplied the gas, and re-lit the pilot. I next sniffed attentively for any symptoms of gas to ensure that everything was in order. It worked perfectly! The pilot light is now always on, and I have hot water whenever I need it. The whole cost was less than $10, compared to the $1000+ cost of a new hot water heater.

Troubleshooting a Patio Heater

How can I turn on my patio heater? Use one part soap to three parts water in a spray bottle or spoon few drops over the tank, regulator, and hose to check for leaks. Why does my pilot light come on but then go out when I switch it on high or low? Retrieval of Documents

I've always been a loyal Sears client, but I'm done with them. They clearly do not care about their clients or their safety. This would have certainly cost Sears less than $100.00, so I'm not sure why they went to such measures not to compensate me. I seldom post on Facebook, but I felt it was important to alert others. Unlike Sears, I am concerned about the safety and fair treatment of my consumers. So goodbye, Sears... I hope the $100 you saved was worthwhile.

Okay, I've done some research and determined that it's most likely my thermostat, either higher or lower, and that I should change both while I'm at it. Or potentially an element, but I'm not sure. My real question, aside from any obvious advice, is whether the fact that water got down inside and around the tank (causing some streaky rust marks) makes this heater unworthy of repair, or should I just wipe it down thoroughly when I have the thermostats and or the elements out before reinstalling the new parts.

The greatest electric water heaters also include super LimeGuard heating elements for enhanced resistance to lime build-up and an Everlast Pexan dip tube to assist reduce sediment build-up at the tank's bottom.

The DualWatt convertible electric components, which allow the heater to function on 3800 or 5500 watts, are additional characteristics to consider, according to Sears.com. All Kenmore Power Miser 9 and Power Miser 12 models include these heating components.
